Ronald L. VanderLaan, MD., F.A.C.C., F.A.C.P.
Dr. VanderLaan has enjoyed the practice of Cardiovascular Diseases in Grand Rapids area, for over 20 years.
Dr. VanderLaan is a native of Grand Rapids, MI, he graduated from the University of Michigan undergraduate college and the University of Michigan Medical School, and then took his Internal Medicine training at the Blodgett/Saint Mary’s program where he eventually functioned as a Chief Resident. He received Fellowship Training in Cardiovascular Diseases at the Cleveland Diseases at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation before returning to his hometown to practice Cardiology primarily in the Blodgett-Saint Mary’s system.
He has enjoyed numerous leadership positions including:
- Research Liaison for Blodgett Memorial Medical Center
- Chairman of the Institutional Review Board
- Editor of the award winning Blodgett research Journal
- Chief of Staff of the Blodgett Medical Staff
- The Founding Spectrum Health Medical Staff President
- President of the award winning Michigan Chapter of the Society of Internal Medicine
- Member of the Blodgett and Spectrum Board of Trustees
- Membership in numerous other hospital staff committees
Dr. VanderLaan has been involved in research that has included the study of coronary artery angiographic imaging, coronary artery calcification, percutaneous coronary intervention, acute myocardial infarction, cardiopulmonary resuscitation , cardiac rehabilitation, the use of laser technology, atherosclerosis, hypertension, lipid treatment, and other topics. In 2006, Dr. VanderLaan was a faculty member of the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine where he conducted research.
