BJ VanderLaan, Patient Care Coordinator

BJ is new to healthcare but is not new to helping others. BJ has extensive experience with community volunteerism, program management and business success.

I’ve enjoyed the many business challenges that I have encountered in my life, but this is the first time that it doesn’t feel like a business- it feels much more personal, much more like a labor of love.

BJ graduated from The University of North Alabama and proceeded to become an accomplished businesswoman, attributable in large part to her business sense and interpersonal skills. BJ then transitioned to community philanthropic work and has served to develop the Endowment Fund for the Grand Rapids Junior League as well as provided service for Hospice for Grand Rapids, Habitat for Humanity, St. Johns home Guild and other charitable organizations. She has been president of the Holy Spirit Parish education Commission, Chair of the Parish Auction, an active member of the committee to rebuild the Holy Spirit Church, and she has been a regular classroom volunteer.

Grand Rapids Cardiology recruited BJ for her personal interest and approach to serving patients and her extensive experience in complex problem solving. The Personalized Quality Cardiovascular Care approach is the latest in a line of people-centered solutions that BJ has embraced.
